Underlay Academy
Privacy
Underlay Academy is run by The IT Dept Pty Ltd and hosted in Australia (au-syd-0). It trains the people who work for telcos and internet providers. This notice says what we keep about you and who can see it.
What your employer sees
Your employer can see your progress, scores and certificates.
That's the point of the record: it shows your employer, and the regulators they answer to, that you've been trained. Academy staff at The IT Dept can see the same records, to run the service and help your employer.
What stays private
Reflections you write stay on your device. Practice answers and whether you watched or read a lesson are private to you, and not visible to your employer or to Academy staff.
Opening the Support panel isn't recorded at all.
How long we keep records
Records are kept for 7 years after your last activity, even if you leave your employer, so a certificate can still be checked and your training still shown.
Decisions about your employment
If your employer uses your results in decisions about your employment, it is responsible for telling you under the Privacy Act (APP 1.7, from 10 December 2026).
Questions
Ask your employer first, since it decides what training you do. You can also write to The IT Dept about your Academy records at hello@underlay.au.
